Custom Rules
We use the Advanced Strat-O-Matic rule set for all games in the Guild. In addition, the following custom rules apply to all games.
1) Ballpark Effects
Managers are strongly encouraged to use Ballpark Effects for all games. This creates greater realism and makes “homefield advantage” more meaningful. However, if the home team managers does not have access to the appropriate Ballpark Effects Ratings for his particular team set, then Ballpark Effects cannot be used for that particular game.
2) Starting Pitcher Rest Days
SilverHawk Showcase Games and Exhibition Games
Any starting pitcher can start the game and managers then follow all Advanced Strat-O-Matic rules for pitcher usage, fatigue, etc.
If two members are playing a “showcase series” (multi-game series between two teams that is not a part of a Select Tournament), they can decide on their own rules for pitcher rest days and pitcher usage.
Silverhawk Select Tournaments
A Four-Man pitching rotation must be set prior to the tournament and strictly followed throughout. In a standard six-game tournament, this means a #1 and #2 pitcher can each pitch two games with the #3 and #4 pitcher each starting a single game. With a Four-Man rotation, “regular” rest is three days. Only pitchers designated as starters (or starters/relievers) can start a game.
3) Relief Pitcher Usage
SilverHawk Showcase Games and Exhibition Games
Managers are encouraged to use only designated relief pitchers (or pitchers who are labeled starters/relievers) in relief, following all Advanced Strat-O-Matic rules for pitcher usage, fatigue, etc. However, in Showcase games managers can set their own parameters (e.g., “Game 7 mode,” when you pull out all the stops and use top starters in relief).
SilverHawk Select Tournaments
Only relief pitchers (or pitchers who are labeled starters/relievers) can pitch in relief.
A pitcher can only pitch in relief in two consecutive games. He then must sit out one game before being eligible to once again pitch in two more consecutive games.
4) Display all current pitchers and batters in plain view.
5) Make decisions, then roll. Make sure your opponent has had adequate opportunity to make all strategic choices before you roll the dice for the next batter.
6) Shake ‘em. Shake the dice well before each roll.
7) Re-Rolls. A die should be re-rolled whenever one falls off the table or if a die is tilted when it stops rolling.
